VTech Little Apps Tablet

VTech Little Apps Tablet

This VTech little apps tablet is marketed as learning tablet for kids, the big A to Z buttons are designed for small hands. There is a keyboard and large arrow button controls to make gameplay easy.

My experience of seeing this VTech little apps tablet in action, the kids love the light up and animation features and the fact that they’ve got their own tablet, just like the grownups!

The tablet introduces the concepts of letters, words, basic maths and music which will help with language development and creativity. Recommended age by VTech is 2 to 5 yrs, but younger toddlers can learn with it too.

There are 8 learning activities with levels of progression and it features  a piano, pretend camera, calendar and more.

Learning with the VTech Little Apps Tablet

Firstly, a list of the product features:

  • A-Z keyboard with large buttons – little fingers can easily manage to push these buttons.
  • Fun bear character mode slider – kids soon learn how to use this slider, it’s visually appealing and easy to slide.
  • Piano keyboard – in my experience all kids love making music!
  • 8 activity buttons – clearly labeled and again visually attractive to kids, they soon learn what each button does.
  • Large arrow buttons for easy controls – the large arrows either side of the keyboard make navigation easy.
  • Lightweight – The tablet measures 2″ x 11.8″ x 9.5″, about the size of an IPad and weighs 1.6 pounds.
  • Battery Operated – batteries are included.

If you’ve come across Vtech products before then you’ll have heard of Cody the Smart Cub. Kids can interact with him on this VTech little apps tablet with the question and answer chat feature.

VtTech Cody the Smart CubIt’s also Cody who takes your kids on their learning adventures, although this is another device (like the LeapFrog) where kids don’t realize they’re learning.

I’ve seen this VTech tablet in action a few times at groups where the kids are aged up to around 5yrs. The younger toddlers love the light up color changing screen, animation features and particularly the keyboard. Thankfully there’s a volume control not easily accessible for the kids, adults stay in control! There’s also an automatic shut off when the tablet gets abandoned in a corner, a good battery saver.

This tablet is tough, I’ve seen it withstand some pretty hard knocks. It’s not waterproof, but it will stand up to a bit of drool. It’s also a good price, it keeps the kids amused for long periods of time (depending on their age and stage of development).

This is what one Mom had to say about it:

Kids love the animation features and piano, the only downsides I can find is only having upper case letters and the odd report of manufacturing defect. A great pre-school toy at an affordable price.
